Don’t let us delay the dialling, but just out of interest:
Graphic Design is at the heart of all visual communications.
Actual stuff you can touch as well as electronic files and web presentations.
All rely on skills that go back thousands of years – or the 1920’s when the term Graphic Design was first used – take your pick.
Why Graphic “Arts”?
For pedants, Graphic Art is the part of Fine Art that uses single colour flat shapes and lines. It became much more than that with the development of printing processes, through engravure, screen printing and letter press allowing mass-produced illustrated representations, (pre-photographic processes), through to colourful point of sale and promotional posters that previously had to be painted one at a time by Sign Writers and Commercial Artists (Like Toulose-Lautrec).
(Sideways thought – just like social media – art didn’t start out meaning to be a marketing medium.)
The talent used for visualisation, of all those who went before Steve Jobs et al, we inherited, and still use today.
But using computers – to save you waiting.
Just so you know:
Graphic Design and Conceptual Copywriting were the two
foundation stones of Blue Strawberry Elephant – it’s a long
history. Without these two nothing else in these pages would have
developed in the way they have, to the extent they have or with the unique insight that comes with each of our offerings, from Animation to E-Commerce or even Project Management.
